I was approached by a woman at Sam’s Club in Monroe LA who had noticed my veteran ball cap and thanked me for my service. In turn, I asked if she or her family had served to which she replied with a lengthy list of family members serving from WWII through Vietnam.
She asked if I had a minute to see something. When we arrived at her car, she retrieved a burial flag that was presented on behalf of her father-in-law and recently damaged in a house fire. She had just picked it up from Chennault Aviation & Military Museum where a volunteer had restored it to a presentable condition.
She stood with me and cried as I asked to take this photo. It was the first opportunity for anyone to see the restored banner. What an honor and privilege.
